We Care - Fires in Portugal raises funds for victims exceeding $110,000

 

Newark, NJ - January 26, 200. Mr. Pedro Belo, Chairman of the Board of bcpbank, announced today that total funds raised in North America and transferred to the victims of the fires of last August in Portugal had surpassed USD $110,000. This fundraising effort initiated last August by bcpbank denominated We Care - Fires in Portugal has now been officially terminated and funds were disbursed to the victims in Portugal through the trust-fund for this tragedy established by Millennium bcp, RTP and ANM.

 

"Portuguese Communities across North America have joined efforts and came through for their homeland, when their fellow countrymen were in dire need during the tragedy that took place this past Summer," said Mr. Belo. "Their generosity towards the victims of these fires has significantly contributed to brighten the lives of those less fortunate communities that are now rebuilding and starting over again." added Mr. Belo. "On behalf of bcpbank and its employees, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to each individual, company and social organization that actively and generously contributed towards this extraordinary initiative, both in the US and in Canada" concluded Chairman Belo.

 

Key initiatives launched by bcpbank such as a live broadcast Telethon, Fundraising Dinners and Concerts, Personal and Business Contributions as well as the Community Media involvement, contributed to the success of this humanitarian aid Campaign.

 

"Just a few days ago, before officially closing this humanitarian campaign, bcpbank still had received generous donations from the Community, such as from the Portuguese Club in Kitchener, Ontario that sent over $6,000 Canadian Dollars" added a spokesperson from bcpbank.
