A Message from Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone

It is my honor to extend greetings and warm wishes to all those attending Adiaspora.com’s “Tradition and Progress” conference, held in celebration of its fourth anniversary.
Toronto is the most culturally diverse city in the world and home to people from many different countries. You can hear more than 160 languages and dialects being spoken on our streets and in our distinctive neighborhoods. The unique qualities of our diverse communities make our great City the best place in the world to live, work, and play.
The Portuguese Community has contributed immensely to Toronto’s growth, strength and prosperity and Adiaspora.com has certainly been a part of this. Associations and organizations that promote and preserve the rich traditions and heritage of cultural groups are supported and encouraged in our City. This year’s theme – “Tradition and Progress”- Recognizes the essential balance of preserving our heritage while adapting for our future.
As Deputy Mayor, it is with pride that I commend those who have made significant contributions to their communities. I would also like to congratulate the volunteers and organizing committee for their outstanding job in organizing this event! To everyone attending tonight’s conference, please accept my very best wishes for a great evening.

Hoje entramos e colonizamos através do espaço sideral, ontem colonizámos através das viagens marítimas, todo o Mundo, porque estivemos nas sete partidas do Mundo. Ao irradiar do centro do Canadá para todo o mundo a diáspora.com faz história e através das notícias e de todo um manancial didáctico que está ao seu alcance, é a responsável por todo um processo de partilha saudosista entre os povos, nomeadamente entre o povo português.
