... Bem vindos a todos à abertura da minha sede de campanha! Welcome to the Ana Bailão Campaign Office, and I must say, this is the Ana Bailão and not my campaign office. This will be the office from where we will be working together to make sure that this is a victory. This not about me, this is about us, this is about us working together to make sure that we have somebody who can do the job here in Davenport. Thank you very much…

On July 15 we had our campaign launch. Since then I have been knocking at every door. I have to say that I knocked at 90% of the doors in our ward and this morning at 8 o'clock I had about fifty volunteers in here and we dropped the entire area with a flier, which shows that I can do it with you. With your support, we will go on to victory on November 10. This is to show the kind of support that I have…

And once again, all of you, I can only do this if I have your support. It is going be 59 days to victory, through which I am going to be working very hard, and I know that I have your commitment and that you going to be working with me. Yes!…

I decided to run for City Council because I believe I can make significant improvements, I can make a difference here. I can be a good thing for the area. I know the issues. I have been working at City Hall for five years and that is going to be the foundation for my many, many years as city councilor…as many you like. I know that I am going have your support now, but also after the 59 days that we have to go. I have worked with many organizations in the area. I have worked with the Friends of Dovercourt Park, the Friends of Dufferin Grove Park, the BIAs, the Tuna in here, the many organizations that we have in our neighbourhood and I need to work with them to make sure that we have a clean, a safe and vibrant city, because that is what I am going to be working for and I can only do with the support of our organizations. There are various issues and safety is one of the more important issues for this area. We have children, parents and seniors that need to be safe in the streets of Toronto. They need to know that somebody is paying attention, and not only paying attention, but taking action because that is what they want. They want someone that can take action, and I will be working very hard to take action on these issues. As City Councillor, I will support a more visible police force, especially with bike and foot patrols in our area. I will also work to increase the safety of children in and around schools and parks. It is essential to do this. I will also demand action from the Federal Government to make sure that we stop the dumping of known sex offenders in our area. And I will also work to make sure that the old TTC garage on Lansdowne becomes the next 11th Division Police Station. Also clean streets make our community shine and they are a priority for everybody. Everybody talks about garbage and dirty streets. I want to work on that. I want a clean Toronto. I am committed to cleaning up Toronto streets. I will work with businesses, residents and BIAs to promote clean neighbourhoods. I will encourage the use of new signs to promote cleaner streets and friendlier neighbourhoods and increase by-law enforcement in problem areas. Also, I will use the examples that we have in our area that have been doing a great job, groups like the Friends of Dovercourt Park and Friends of Dufferin Grove Park, support them and expand what they have been doing to other areas in this community. Further, Toronto is a city that houses more than 100 languages. It is the economic engine of Ontario, it is the cultural capital of Canada and we have to invest in our city. As City Councillor, I want to ensure we have the world-class city we want. For that, I will work to make sure that we have the Provincial and Federal Governments giving us new financial tools that we need. I will also work to make this city be able to compete for jobs and tourist dollars. It is very important that we have a competitive city here. I will improve public transportation - which is very important to me - and maintain the character of Toronto's neighbourhoods. We are what we are because of the many communities that come together in this city, and we have to maintain this, helping them out by strengthening programs for arts and culture for ethnic communities and for the city at large. That is what I want a vibrant city to be. Toronto, to have all this, needs councilors with experience that are committed, that know the issues. I know the issues, I am committed and I am hardworking. I need your support to make sure I get elected, to make sure our voice gets heard - because I am going to get back to each one of you for feedback, to know what else can be done - to make sure that we have the best city in the world.

So, on November 10, this is going to be a victory. We are going to win! But now, on to work…We have 59 days. On to Victory
